First, we get to know one another
We have an intake interview where we spend around 60-90 minutes getting to know one another and what challenges you are facing. I will explain the mediation process in detail, and answer any questions you have. I will also ask you about yourself, the other party, your relationship, the dispute, and what is important to you in resolving it.
I will then contact the other party and invite them to book their own intake interview.
Next, we have a joint session
Once it is established that your matter is suitable for mediation, we will have a joint session where I will assist you both to express to each other your needs and concerns. The goal is for both parties to feel heard and safe to express themselves and what they want out of the mediation process. I will facilitate the conversation to help you move towards an agreement you both find acceptable.
The process is designed to be less formal and intimidating than a court proceeding. I am here to support you through the process so that you can focus on resolving your dispute and moving on.
In the event that an agreement is not reached, I am accredited by the Attorney-General's Department to issue s60I certificates which are required if you decide to take a parenting matter to court.
